Flame Robin Petroica Phoenicea
This is the colour-faithful version of the B&W jobbie I put up a couple of days ago. I guess I'm a 'realist', because I've been itching to put this version up for days! ![]() Phew, that feels better...... Edited by geardown - 04 April 2009 at 13:36 |

@Brand: Great shots! The odd poses make them stand out to the regular gulls ;). I think you've done a great job at your positioning/isolating them from the background, it really makes them 'pop' out. Next time (when shooting in harsh light like this) try shooting RAW and underexposing by 0.5 to 1.0 stops (maybe more), then pushing the exposure in post-processing, as you won't clip the highlights like you have here. Thanks for sharing them :)
@Waldstein: Love the detail/depth of field in that shot. Great composition & pose. @TTaponen: Good work. You've done a great job at getting enough depth of field to get both ducks in focus, while still getting a sharp shot (I know from experience, this can be a pain at times when shooting with long lenses). Maybe some more directional/warmer lighting would improve it a little? Thanks for sharing it anyway :) |

THX! It's older EX non DG version, I've had it since film days. If Sony or Sigma comes out with SSM/HSM version my lens will be Yours! ![]() @Ricardovaste: I It was very dull weather with some sunlight coming thru clouds so results were as shown, I didn't want to warm up. Cheers, T.T. |

We have baby Mocking Birds in the hedge. I have been planning this for a couple of days.
