The weather hasn't been cooperating very well with me lately, but I've a few to post. Probably the last for a bit. The Alpha is going into the shop for adjustment (it's backfocusing on me). Hopefully that will relieve some of my frustrations with the sharpness I've been getting lately.

EK

My first post at Dyxum!

I joined Dyxum a couple of days ago and I wanted to post my comments at a forum. I don't like people who post just for the sake of posting so I was waiting for something worthwhile to post.

Couple of thoughts:

1.- Just bought the a700, lovin' it!!!! (yeah... maybe the a800 is around the corner.... maybe the a700 will be steeply discounted tomorrow.... who cares... I like it... just have to promise myself (and my wife) to stop looking at sonystyle.com)
2.- Don't like the new alphas, don't see any benefit over their predecessors.
3.- Don't like the new DT 50mm F1.8. I have two minoltas 50mm f1.7, one on my a100, one on my a700. DT= APS-c size, reg minolta = APS & FF
4.- Curious about the 30mm Macro
5.- Curious about the new flash. New Slave?????

Good to have posted something. Good to have posted 'bout a bunch 'o topics!!

It looks great tpetpe, almost as if its looking at you and showing off its dinner. Good detail also.

ps: maybe increase the contrast a little.

Thanks for the comments Ausgezeichnet and Matt Fairview. I wish we had some birds that were a little more exotic, per chance a bee eater?!?! as you guys do, they are fantastic, even in Gloustishire :) There was a sparrow hawk here once, but then not much of anything else for a while.

Here is one more in fading light so with a flash, but i think it made it a bit harsh?

Thanks Dogears
Ausgezeichnet- Well, I used AF but you have to consider the Minolta 200 2.8G and focus limiter work faster than any lens I used. Swallows are tricky flyers and never have the same flight pattern. BTW these shots were taken early morning when they are a bit slower in flight.

@TB Mike,
thanks for posting Mike, IQ looks ok, what were conditions like when you shot this (colour/light). Am I right to think that the 2xTC Minolta would not AF on the 400/4.5 - how does the Kenko manage??
@Brog: well, that's incredible...but essentially you pre-focussed and waited at a point where the swallows pass often?

Bernd
