I'd like to make some comments on Hugo's photo.
I think compositionally he has done very well, getting a rarely captured pose and lining up the eyes and chelicerae in focus so well. I also like the way that the twig draws attention to the focal point of the photo. The background is still well-lit and does not compete for attention with the viewer. I'm guessing that the spider also has some pollen tuck to its front left leg . |

Here's a few of a Praying Mantis. The first 2 were with my 90mm and the 3rd was with the 90mm + 2X TC, using the a200's on-board flash:

A couple of Cambridgea foliata, taken with the 50mm macro and Sigma EM-140 ringlight flash.
It was a nice experiment, but I don't recommend using such a short macro lens on such a large spider...you have to get really close. |

He's a crazy looking cricket thats for sure! From what I remember though, not technically a bug. If used in a defining sence in regards to insects, bugs are insects that have adapted mouth parts that form a proboscis, and have specialised fore wings called hemelytra. Think shield bugs. |

Not sure if this counts as a 'bug' exactly...
