Topic: Subjects and their surroundings (1) Posted: 21 July 2009 at 22:50 |
Something between Environmental Portraits and Subjects in Environments but loosely defined. Subjects don't need to have any connection with the environment other than just being part of it. According to Bryan Peterson's definition of environmental portrait: "it is an image in which both the subject and a portion of the surrounding environment are included and defined." According to this idea I have posted many pictures in our existing Environmental Portraits which do not belong there because of the different definition provided there. Our Environmental Portraits topic should be, in my ignorant view, subdivision of Environmental Portrait in large. I am not judging anything just trying to explain a reason for this thread. Everybody who has an images that doesn't fit in Subjects in Environments and Environmental Portraits and are images of subjects in environments can post here.

In this photo the environment is shaped by the subjects, so does that counts?

Really like the last one svjetlana, colors (and the red blue contrast), pose, composition, light. Could be the right spot and model for an extensive and rewarding photo shoot. First one is a nice capture as well, he (or she) is looking like the balloon can pop any second. The second one doesn't do much for me. Probably too "central" and my eye keeps drawn to the oof white/yellow spot on the tree, which I don't think is an interesting spot.
Here's two I shot during our vacation with this thread in mind, but forgot all about and posted somewhere else. Still not too late I hope. A statue at the Belgian coast being "used" by some beach enjoyers. They were taken during the August pic-a-day challenge and already appeared in the outtakes thread there. I think this fits your criteria, Svjetlana. Taken at last Saturday's wedding. I was thinking of putting it in the 'Reflections' thread, but this one seemed even more appropriate.
