Nice shot Jim, but can you tell us more about the "unusual" gear set-up?

I've got a little switcheroo for you. This was shot with a Sony 70-400mm plus 1.4x tc on a Panasonic G1. That gave me a 35mm equivalent of 1020mm. Needless to say, with that length of lens, no image stabilization, and the subject at 100 yards, I used a tripod.

Just for fun.

Jim

Brettania, outback88, Frank & Josiel - thanks!

Dennis - lovely shot. If that's handheld (700 mm @ 1/200) then I'm even more impressed! Your gallery is excellent.

Awesome work guys. Hey aa - I've gotta come and meet you new friend . Great capture. Svetlana - gorgeous shots (as usual). Merv - great to have more Aussie birds on show. Excellent shots mate. And Jens - reminds me of Star Trek - "Beam me up Scotty" . Nice light.

All nice shots above!

aa - great pose with the osprey. Maybe a slightly tighter crop but with a little more space left of the upper wing? Just a thought.

A few less-glamorous birds from me ...

1. Great Cormorant

2. Musk Lorikeet

3. Dusky Moorhen chick

4. Magpie
