Dear Dyxumers,

I finished counting votes and it turned out that the the photo you liked the most was "Biking the tide" by arny. Unfortunately in the meantime it was discovered that arny's photo was one of the finalists in the "Best Of 2009" DPC. This means that, regrettably, the photo was not egligible for the DPC and should have not been selected for the finals (rules are clear with regards to this: Photos that have been winners or finalists in previous DPCs (or shots that are similar) are not eligible). In this situation we had no choice but to disqualify the photo from the competition which is really unfortunate at this stage ...

Still there was the problem to solve: what to do with the voting - how would the people vote if there was no arny's photo? The discussion was quite long and many options were considered but eventually we decided to take the simplest and the most straightforward approach: the first is disqualified so the second takes it all, especially that the difference in points was very thin (only 2 points apart).

Therefore, Ladies and Gentleman, I am pleased to announce the photo which won the competition this time:

"Rough sea" by Mark L

This time the Honourable Mention goes to:

"oniric" by A.W.

Congratulations to the winner and the HM and thank you all for voting and participation in this DPC ...

... and apologies for the messy situation.

Happy shooting,
MiPr

Well done Mark, a worthy winner. I think a very fair result as this photo definitely 'fits' the topic.

Mark - Many congratulations and a truly great image; you even managed to keep the horizon straight

I would have been well below decks and having a very bad time in these conditions....

Well done to you and to all the other contestants!

Kind regards, Neil.

Excellent photo, Mark! I would have been below deck with Neil or hanging off the port rail. Congratulations, A.W., on HM selection.

Cheers... Brian
