Guess imitation is the sincerest form of flattery so here's nicking Bob J's cacti silhouette shot with some of my own plants
"Best" 2 out of 10 plants I tested it on.

Thanks. I disagree with the composition advice though. The top right tip is merely a diminishing pattern and holds little interest, besides the fact that it would have been washed out. We know what's there and it's better not left pointing into darkness. The stem divides the frame in roughly thirds, and the leaf divides that third into thirds yet again. Besides that, it points directly to the most detail-heavy part of the seeds. The apparent transition from gold to green is one of the most interesting details in the photo, and I think the leaf accentuates the appearance of this.

Beardedspoon - fine location! If you could have moved to the right a bit to change the viewpoint slightly then the figure wouldn't have overlapping branches. (if you see what I mean)

3.0 - very nice. A classic simple compostion. I'd be tempted to clone out that bird near the centre of the frame, just to keep the background all clean.

This grass seed cluster is backlit by sitting directly on top of a polarizer on top of a flash diffuser. Another polarizer is mounted to the lens to cut out all polarized light, thereby making the subject brighter than the surrounding area of illumination.

Catching the moment is sometimes more important than technical perfection. You certainly captured a great shot, i like it (too).

Ah, that's better. It has a good mood. Maybe the motion blur in the figure adds a little something too. Good one!
