Ok. Thanks. That explains why the various tools I tried wouldn't show it. :-\

Just tried the PIE tool and it reads everything very nice but isn't giving me shutter count / image count on my Sony A700 images.

Is there a current tool that I can use to get shutter count from A700 image files?

I've tried the exiftool and camerashuttercount.com - no luck on either.

Getting ready to sell this camera and want to be able to provide accurate info to list it. The last image file number I can find is DSC03972, which I would assume is the shutter count, or close to it, but can't be sure. I'm the original owner ... don't believe I've rolled over the 10,000 number previously.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks, Borut! I don't remember being able to get a shutter count on my A580 before, but I can now.

No need to worry yet, Sony claims a life expectancy of 300,000 clicks for the a99II, that's a big jump over the a99 (200,000)

Very Awesome! Thanks so much Guy!

.... the 96,000 clicks I now read from the counter on my A99ii was a bit of a shock though.

Regards and gratitude

It wasn't on the supported list, because I missed the model when adding it.
It should work now

I am curious why tools.science.si doesn't work with ILCA-68 files. It identifies the camera model correctly but reports 0 exposures.

Thanks again, I've done a lot of tethered shooting straight to the PC with the a99II and have wondered how much of a difference there is between the image number and the shutter count.
I've copy/pasted the change log (above posting) into the Original Post.

So, another update, pretty significant one as well.

The good stuff first:
- expanded support for new E and A-mount (7rm3, 9, 99m2, etc ...)
- up to 1000x faster (read below for more info)
- source code now completely free and open

The bad stuff:
- no more option of providing a link (you need to download the photo to your computer and "upload" it to the tool

The 'meh' stuff:
- old tool will still be available for a while

The gruesome details
I've rewritten the whole application, so that it now runs on your computer - in the internet browser - instead of on the server.
The benefits are:
- files no longer need to be uploaded, saving bandwidth on both ends.
- only the file header is read and processed, which is blazingly fast
- many files can be processed simultaneously
- code for reading is "readable" in the source html of the tool, if people want to "roll their own"
- no more exploits trying to infest my server

The tool should work on all modern browsers. If you have any specific issues or requests, let me know here or via a private message.

Best regards,
Guy

Yes, same root-cause like A100, A200, A300 and A350 (and KM7D/5D) aren't supported either
This status quo was explained several times in this thread already that there simply are no corresponding maker note tags (data bytes) storing such kind of info for these models
