Hi everyone,
After a wonderful sunrise (followed by breakfast!), we decided that we should take an extended tour through the wider reaches of Bryce Canyon NP. I think most people satisfy themselves with the Amphitheater and the walks from there as I've already mentioned in previous postings, but that's to short change the beauty and grandeur that is Bryce. Hopefully, this will go some way to changing that: 1. Still Burning ![]() 2. Two Tones ![]() 3. From Bristlecone Pine Trail ![]() 4. Remains ![]() 5. From The End Of The Park ![]() 6. Fire Fighters Trucks - Part Of The Uniform? ![]() 7. Think I'm Scruffy? Take A Look At Yourself, Buster! ![]() 8. "Bart Simpson Rock" ![]() 9. Glow in the Valley ![]() 10. Windows on the World ![]() 11. Bryce Cathedral ![]() 12. "Hell of a Place To Loose A Cow" ![]() This isn't, in my view, a great photograph in the creative sense, but what fascinates me are the geological layers and phases of erosion that it so clearly shows us as the observer. This is what Bryce is all about. 13. The Wider View ![]() 14. Panorama ![]() This concludes the day-time 'journey' along the Bryce perimeter, though not all the images from here for now (I've also edited an awful lot of images out of those collected during this journey - perhaps some will get shared much later). Thanks for looking through these and, as always, comments and suggestions are always welcomed. Best regards, Neil. |

I've been to Bryce thrice and it never gets boring, of course.
I'm quite enjoying your series, though I might have not commented so far. What to say? A beautiful place well captured and presented. Farmer Bryce might have been more preoccupied with just running his farm but there's something about #12 that I find especially appealing. Very nice series and TFS. Regards Sashi |

Scenes from your whole trip are beautiful Neil!
Shapes, colors, light, compositions are excellent. Details and grand views are both great. First one and last 3 images from this set are grandiose. ![]() |

Although I've been merely lurking in Dyxum for the last few weeks, I've still been following this series with anticipation for each next posting.
The thing that keeps grabbing my attention is the way the rocks seem to be alive with that glowing orange colour. Amazing to look at... |

More wonderful images, Neill. I’m particularly struck by those naturally formed “architectural” structures, and the wider views that provide scale and context.
Looking forward to the next exciting episode. |

Are you sure it's not Bong Simpson Rock?
Love the bird shot. Life can be hard but we manage. Thanks for posting. It's been a great journey. JT |

Such an amazing place and you getting down inside is what many folks miss. Of course, the rim locations present such an incredible amphitheater-type view that I understand why many are satisfied with those. In this group, #1 stands out to me because it has the best light IMO. "I've also edited an an awful lot of images out..." - my goodness you must have been shooting a LOT! I hope you find, as I often do, that months later when looking through such a large group you find some real gems that somehow were overlooked when doing the first walk through.

Hi Roger,
Many thanks for the comment. And yes; it is a lot of images I've gone/been going through from the vacation. There are those photographers that select a location and spend hours there; waiting for that 'just so' moment to take a picture. I'm at the other end of that spectrum (for all sorts of reasons - most of them borne from having had children and a wife wanting to get on with the walk ![]() ![]() I've now got quite a haul of shots that I feel are okay to share so will be doing so in days/weeks to come - so sorry folks; 'a bit more Orange' on it's way! Thanks all and best regards, Neil. |
