To celebrate the arrival of the LA-VE2 MonsterAdapter, here's a thread dedicated to Minolta's V-mount lenses:

Prime lenses
V 17 mm f/3.5 RD
V 50 mm f/3.5 Macro (1:2)
V 400 mm f/8 Reflex
Zooms
V 22–80 mm f/4-5.6
V 25–150 mm f/4.5-6.3
V 28–56 mm f/4-5.6
V 56–170 mm f/4.5-5.6
V 80–240 mm f/4.5-5.6 Apo

Show us your photos with these lenses on your E-mount camera, with LA-VE2, LA-VE1, or any other adapter; and please tell us what you think of the new adapter and the performance of the lenses.

Here's a link to the thread on the launch of the LA-VE2.

Two test shots with the LA-VE2 and 400 REFLEX, the first AF-C using flexible spot S, the second one using MF. Exif gives 405 mm focal length!

AF on the 400 is not ideal, I will experiment with AF settings. The AF sometimes cycles at close focus, not finding anything to lock on. Toggling the A/M switch solves that. This lens does not have a hypersonic drive like modern lenses, I'm expecting something in the line of screw-drive lenses. On some subjects it does that, on others not.

The 400 REFLEX is the reason I wanted the adapter (my other Vectis lenses are either collateral damage or the result of irrational behaviour/lenslust) and the lens meets all expectations. One remark. Pincushion distortion, I don't know if this is common, but in Lightroom I need -9 to correct it, obviously only noticeable when there are straight lines in the image. Vignetting is surprisingly low for this APS lens, but I doctored the lens by removing the "rectangular" window in the lens mount.

All fotos are taken with the Sony NEX-7 & Minolta Vectis 22-80 with a mechanical adapter(only open aperture and manually focused).

My NEX-7 is modified for infrared photography, the Vectis 22-80 shows no IR-hotspot.

Nice to see some pre-LA-VE2 work, Neil, Howard and Jumbolino!
Jumbolino: was your adapter 'home made'?

I adapted 2 Vectis lenses (22-80 and 56-170mm) to M42.

This is what I wrote in 2015:

A Vectis lens is an electronic PITA. It only works on Vectis cameras. Off camera, focus and aperture are dead. But zoom works.

Well, I can live without aperture; wide open is my favourite aperture and thank God Vectis lenses are wide open when they're dead. But photography without focus is hard.

So I sanded down the bayonet of the Vectis 22-80/4 and screwed it (sort of, it's not perfect yet) into an M42 helicoid adapter; and screwed that into a slim M42 > E-mount adapter. Et voila: focus from 5cm to infinity (and beyond ).

And this is the photo that went with it:

We are family

No I bought the mechanical adapter from COMO. The lens is attached to the adapter with three small locking screws and then the distance is adjusted by screwing it in and out. But the whole thing is quite sloppy and I can not recommend it. That's why I then immediately went with the LA-VE2.

MINOLTA V LENS 22-80mm f/4-5.6 on A7M3 with LA-VE2 adapter. The lens focusses smoothly and without any problem. Vignetting at 22mm is oddly shaped and heavy, very slight at 80mm. The 22mm zoom end registers as 21mm. There is substantial pincushion distortion. When the lens contacts don't line up correctly the aperture reads f/90 which obviously results in incorrect exposure. Lightroom identifies the lens as 22-80mm F4.1-5.6, almost right.

Till today I didn't even know Minolta had something called a V-mount but, oh boy, there are some real fine images in this thread here!

MINOLTA V MACRO LENS 50mm f/3.5 on MonsterAdapter LA-VE2 auto focus adapter. Auto focus is like a 19th Century safari, lots of hunting. Sharp wide open, sharper stopped down. In Lightroom it shares the lens code with the Vectis 22-80. Focal length is reported as 51mm. No vignetting.

MINOLTA V LENS 28-56mm f/4-5.6 on MonsterAdapter LA-VE2 auto-focus adapter. AF reliable, it better be as the lens does not support manual focus. Some vignetting at the 56 mm end, none at the wide end. It shares the lens-code with the 56-170.
