Just got a (used) VG-C77AM for my A77. The camera shows that there are two batteries (both Sony InfoLithium) but the 2nd battery is grayed out and shows no bars/percentage. Any ideas? (I tried switching the batteries position, same thing. I tried each battery by itself in the VG-C77AM, and it shows up. |

My VG-C77AM is an aftermarket one, so, not genuine. It seems to have developed a fault, with two batteries my A77m2 says "Battery exhausted" and my A99m2 tells me the battery is wrong. With just one battery in either tray, both tell me the batteries are at 100%.
So, I went to my A900 grip. and it shows two batteries, one greyed out. It only shows one time 100%. When I replace the full battery in slot 1 for an empty one, that one is greyed out and battery 2 is white and the percentage is still 100%. It has been a while, but this is in line with what I remember from using these grips: the camera only shows the percentage of the active battery. |

Only one battery shows at a time. The active one. The second is greyed out. To check if the tray and contacts are working properly, only put one battery in the tray at a time in position 1 then 2, turning on the unit and checking status.

Okay, that seems to be the answer, it's not supposed to show the % of both batteries, only the active one. I tried each battery in both tray slots on their own and the camera sees/reads them correctly, so I guess I really don't have a problem, I just didn't understand how that worked.
Thanks for the replies and help. Happy Shooting, Vito (Photoman15) |

I agree, it is not the most intuitive way to show it.
