Bright f/1.8 maximum aperture suits working in low-light conditions and also affords greater control over depth of field.

Viltrox announced these last year. They also showed a roadmap with several others:

Everything is behind schedule.

I am most curious about the 50mm. I haven't seen anything other than specifications and exterior pictures of it. I found some tiny sample images today.

Funny that there is a thread on these and none on the Sony 14/1.8GM.

Interested in none of these (or the Viltrox 24/1.8). There are several 50mm and 35mm in FE-mount. I would like a high quality 28mm - a Sony 28/1.4G.

The cheaper the lens the more discussion it generates. Then again no one is discussing the E-mount Yongnuos.

The GM lenses are mostly very good. The 14 looks very good. I've been almost getting the 20 G for a while.

High quality 28mm is practically an oxymoron. The FE 2/28 is pretty good.

I like the Sony FE 50 F1.8 a lot. It has some weaknesses, but mostly it works well enough. The new 50 GM seems very good, the 50 ZA is good too.

Yeah, I think you have the point. The new Sony 14mm may be a better choice for me.

Well, but there basically is only the 28/2. While it is good for its price, it is not that good. Everybody is making a 35mm and there are a lot of 24mm AF lenses, the options for 28mm are limited.

Compared to what? The 20/1.8G? I disagree based on focallength. I find 14mm too wide, 20mm is better. The 20/1.8G also is cheaper.

You can of course crop to 20mm from 14mm. You have that
