W is for Wall paintings in a medieval church

St John the Baptist in Horton, North Oxfordshire

From a 1972 article on wall paintings in Oxfordshire:

Over the chancel arch is a Doom which exhibits the very unusual feature of the Crucifixion in place of the seated Christ in the centre; the heavenly city is clearly delineated on the left, but much of the rest is unfortunately destroyed ; the colour scheme is rich and of wide range in which red and green predominate. Below on the north and south of the chancel arch are a PietA and St. George respectively; the former is a most attractive composition on a dark blue ground with the dead Christ on Hi, Mother's knee, ; the lower part is damaged; the latter scene shows 51. George as a standing figure with no subsidiary details.

All A7 III / LA-EA3 / Minolta 24-105

Typically at ISO 32000 (!) and NR in the LrC AI Enhance feature/thingy.

Thansk Pieter!
I chose "W is for..", since it was taken in one of the main touristic attractions of the Netherlands, where the home language is hardly used

The bokeh-balls are flare from dust particles on the front lens , very visible at F18 that was still set on the camera (the sun was ust above this wall), but I kind of liked them.

Thanks guys - from time to time I am triggered by a post to see if I have something to follow in the thread.

Fred's excellent W - Clogs was the trigger, something beginning with ... is usually easy to find a shot for. So I looked for keywords beginning with W and Woodstock seemed promising, a nice town with plenty of nice buildings, - and I ended up choosing a door that could be anywhere with a bit of age. Glad you like it.
