For the basic assignments where the composition is mostly the basis I would say no cropping.
For people who do have a pass in the old assignments that are still the same as the new, it would be a option that they can re-enter the photo that did pass the old assignment.

Also would it be nice if the information (example the golden mean, rot ect) is available here on Dyxum and not only on external sites. so that you don't get problems with broken sites, missing links ect.

I do like the new assignments and I am very interested what the new assignments will be like and I know what to do with my free time next year

Actually, I'd say the opposite, all pictures has to be fresh. The only issue with not being able to re-enter the old pictures is that you then need to go out and shoot more! And that's why we are all here in the first place, well most of us...

And practice makes master, so having to do another round of leading lines, rule of third photos etc only do you good.

I'm with mortenva on the last question, it's all about encouraging people to go out and shoot, and then post the results here (or on other sections of the vast Dyxum forum)

On the other hand the pass/fail aspect of the assignments is really built on trust, but who are you fooling if you "break" the rules

There's no way we can check if a shot was really taken for the assignment and even cropping is hard to detect. So if people choose to re-enter their old shots from the "first" series of assignments we won't go back to check and fail you for that reason.

I think in the end the only "prize" we can offer you for the assignments is the feeling that you successfully completed them all, and that is much more rewarding if you know yourself you played by the rules

So, I'm slowly going to build the new structure and close out "old" assignments that have been replaced.

Other comments and suggestions still welcome !

More agreement with Mortvena - it is actually really good to go out and shoot more pictures, and if you are actually keen and want to really understand what's going on, it shouldn't be difficult for the lower level assignments (although it might be for the studio set ups with multiple lights if you borrowed them... but they are new, right?).

As long as there are rules no need to worry about whether people broke them or not. This actually looks like fun, the way it is set out, and really quite a challenge even for non-beginners. No suggestions - in the good way! Excellent idea.

Oh, I just thought of one thing... maybe a couple of examples with explanations to get people started, Pieter?
