WEEK 50 2018
EXHIBITION!

It was a great Week 50, and now you can see the best of the best of it...

Before showing the photos, few comments...
- 25 users voted! It is quite impressive! So thank you all for your votes!
- There were 3 cases of tie between two pictures. In these cases I chose the photo which the owner of the photo chose in his voting.
- PLEASE CHECK ME... I did some part manually (some users slightly modified the format/template which required some manually counting) and at some point I got really blurry... So everyone is welcome to count the votes he/she received and correct me if I am wrong...
- The honourable mention voting is very nice idea, but it was a nightmare counting - there were no 2 voting with the same format (and in some cases people got the page number wrong)... Luckily, this time the winner was very clear, so it was not so bad that I wasn't sure about some votes. Next time, we may need to think about it in advance and make sure that the outtakes are marked in a systematic way.

Now some meaningless numbers and statistics...
- As I mentioned before - there were 25 voters!! I am not sure whether it is a record, but I don't remember similar numbers in previous challenges.
- It seems that there were "better days" and "bad days" - here is the sum of the votes per day of the week:
  • Day 1 - 127

  • Day 2 - 137

  • Day 3 - 94

  • Day 4 - 75

  • Day 5 - 142

  • Day 6 - 114

  • Day 7 - 109

It seems that we got a little tired in the middle of the week...

Now for the photos!

Your hard work is much appreciated Shay!
What a pleasure to watch this exhibition!
Funny to see the stats per day with indeed a dip in the midweek.
Tue's honourable mention is well deserved!

Shay,
Thanks very much for running Week 50 this year, and for putting together this Grande Finale Exhibition which showcases the efforts of the participants as well as the very special qualities that the 'normal' 50mm lens brings to photography, especially at its wider open settings.
A pleasure to have participated, to have written and read some comments, and to have seen the imaginative variety on offer across the extremes of the northern winter and the southern summer.
Obviously a fuller snapshot of Week 50 is able to be seen in the Thumbnails Thread for anyone wishing to explore it.

Huge thanks to Shay for organising the week and the voting - and more huge thanks to those who voted and commented. Especial thanks to gregia, minolta-mutley and bonneville for voting for shots of mine that no one else picked - it's nice to know someone liked them!

As Joe suggested, it is highly recommended to go over the thumbnails and the voting threads. While preparing the Exhibition I discovered some overlooked photos and some comments which were added later - it was a great joy!
And here are the full numbers (in case you are interested...):

Thanks for putting this together. I think I was the only one that missed voting. Been busy. Looking at the votes either my day one pick was really good or the rest of them sucked haha. Again thanks for the mods putting this together. Chris

Great job by all and an even greater job by Shay

Very enjoyable to scroll through the top picks again and also good to see the voting table.

Having a honorable mention for the outtakes also brought out something special (allthough the daily thread shot was even more special)
Mind the bandwidth of others, don't link pictures larger then 1024 wide or 960 pix high, see here

It's interesting to see the full scores (thanks Shay).

I'm relieved to see I'm not the only one to post a shot that got no votes!

I am now trying to work out if it's better to have one shot that outscores the rest by a mile (showing I can hit the sweet spot occasionally) or an even spread (showing consistency).

@C_N_RED_AGAIN - day 1 just had it all!

@Shay -- thanks for all of the heavy lifting! You did *a lot* of work here.

It looks like I picked 8 of the 25 winners. I wonder who picked the most winners?
NEX-3, 6 | A77ii | Dynax 505si super | Maxxum 9 | many, many lenses ;-)
