I have not near the number of lenses Snegren has, but I can explain the lenses I have:
Sony SAL 50/1.4 - got a good deal, I already had the Minolta but this added (D) and better AF on some Sony cameras.
Minolta AF 50/1.4 - got a really good deal.
Canon EF 50/1.8 - for my Canon cameras.
Sony/Zeiss 55/1.8 - for my full frame E-mount cameras.
Sony E 50/1.8 OSS - got it way before the 55/1.8 for my Nex F3 - love it, I don't use it enough.
Minolta MC 50/1.4 - Wanted the best MC/MD lens, this is it.
Minolta MD 50/1.7 - got it with a camera.
Yashica DSB 50/1.8 - got it with a camera.
Olympus OM 50/1.8 - got it with a camera.
Nikon E 50/1.8 - got it with a camera.

Most manual focus film cameras come with a 50mm lens, if you get a camera, you get a lens Also, 50mm lenses are cheap, so it is easy to try to see if they render differently.

Oh, I thought my collection was a bit on the modest side, numbers-wise.
