Take out those 50mm Lenses for WEEK 50

Dyxum week 50 2022 is from Monday December 12 - Sunday December 18

This is the thread to sign up for this Challenge.

Week 50 is a week-long photographic challenge and the only rule is that you shoot with a lens in the 50s (50-59mm) for the whole week. There are no restrictions on bodies.. That's right, in the spirit of Christmas, and because this challenge was started some years ago (by member DCap) as an event open to non A-mount/E-mount bodies, we are dropping all restrictions. Medium format, M43, and even Canikon... it's all okay! The only restriction is the lens and pic-a-day.

All members are invited to join us! And we hope some members who have moved to other mounts will come back to visit us. Please invite anyone you want to keep in touch with - it would be great to "see" some old friends.

Please feel free to set yourself additional challenges and to tell us about them. As always, the point is that you make pictures, challenge yourself to improve in some way, and have fun. It’s also a nice way to get to know some of the other members a little better.

If you have not joined before and do not fully understand the guidelines, do not worry. You will understand when you see - just sign up.

This challenge is for everyone! It does not matter if you are a professional or a beginner. Everyone will learn something and everyone can enjoy it.

GUIDELINES

1. Take photographs every day and post one picture for each day in the thread. Pic-a-day only!

2. Shoot for the whole week with one or many 50-59mm lens(es) (if you do not have a prime – fixed focal length - you can shoot using a zoom, fixed to 50mm, but you cannot change the focal length at all – we suggest you tape it). So called Lens Turbo's or Speed Boosters to achieve FF FOV on APS-C bodies are allowed as well as extension tubes - as long as the lens used is in the 50-59mm range. We discourage the use of tele converters, since they start deviating from the 50 mm FOV too much.

3. Because the point is to shoot only one point of view, only minimal cropping is allowed to straighten, etc. However, you may crop ONE SIDE in order to present a picture in a square or other format planned when you took the shot (the point is that you compose in the viewfinder/LV and not on the computer).

4. You are expected to comment on the photographs posted by others – there will be a Talk Thread for this purpose. This may be the most important rule of all!

5. Read the Talk Thread every time you post in the Photo threads, so that you do not miss out on announcements or comments – please try to join in.

6. If you cannot post every day that's okay. You can still join and catch up with posts when you can. If you do not have time to process your photos fully, don’t worry – post them with minimal processing. A challenge is not a contest.

If you have a question you can ask them below - they are very welcome!

I am in!
Most likely with the Canon EOS R with the EF 50/1.8 II - but maybe I decide to use as many lenses as possible:
Sony E 50/1.8 OSS
Sony/Zeiss 55/1.8
Minolta AF 50/1.5
Sony SAL 50/1.4
Minolta MD 50/1.4 (? oily aperture)
Yashica ML 50/1.8
I also have a Nikon E 50/1.8 and a Olympus OM 50/1.8 but no adapters.

We'll see what happens

Ok, I'll play. Most likely I'll try to use different lens each day.

Is it already that time of year again!?
Woohoo of course I'm in, and presumably will dust off seven different nifty-fifties, but all with F2

I have decided on this order of old and sometimes obscure lenses. I wish I had a 59 mm lens (as this would complete the 50-59 series for me) but as far as I know only @darosa has a 59.

Hugo Meyer & Co Görlitz Kinon Superior I 1:1.6 f=5 cm (16mm film projection lens)
Bell & Howell Super D Proval 2 inch f/1.4 (16mm film projection lens)
KONICA HEXANON AR 52mm F1.8
Minolta Auto Rokkor-PF 1:2 f=53 mm
Carl Zeiss Jena Pancolar 1.4/55 (M42)
KONICA HEXANON AR 57mm F1.4
Meyer-Optik Görlitz Primoplan 1:1.9/58 V (Exakta)
