Take out those 50mm Lenses for WEEK 50

Dyxum week 50 2019 is from Monday December 9 - Sunday December 15

This is the thread to sign up for this Challenge.

Week 50 is a week-long photographic challenge and the only rule is that you shoot with a lens in the 50s (50-59mm) for the whole week. There are no restrictions on bodies.. That's right, in the spirit of Christmas, and because this challenge was started some years ago (by member DCap) as an event open to non A-mount/E-mount bodies, we are dropping all restrictions. Medium format, M43, and even Canikon... it's all okay! The only restriction is the lens and pic-a-day.

All members are invited to join us! And we hope some members who have moved to other mounts will come back to visit us. Please invite anyone you want to keep in touch with - it would be great to "see" some old friends.

Please feel free to set yourself additional challenges and to tell us about them. As always, the point is that you make pictures, challenge yourself to improve in some way, and have fun. It’s also a nice way to get to know some of the other members a little better.

If you have not joined before and do not fully understand the guidelines, do not worry. You will understand when you see - just sign up.

This challenge is for everyone! It does not matter if you are a professional or a beginner. Everyone will learn something and everyone can enjoy it.

GUIDELINES

1. Take photographs every day and post one picture for each day in the thread. Pic-a-day only!

2. Shoot for the whole week with one or many 50-59mm lens(es) (if you do not have a prime – fixed focal length - you can shoot using a zoom, fixed to 50mm, but you cannot change the focal length at all – we suggest you tape it). So called Lens Turbo's or Speed Boosters to achieve FF FOV on APS-C bodies are allowed as well as extension tubes, but we discourage the use of tele converters, since they start deviating from the 50 mm FOV too much.

3. Because the point is to shoot only one point of view, only minimal cropping is allowed to straighten, etc. However, you may crop ONE SIDE in order to present a picture in a square or other format planned when you took the shot (the point is that you compose in the viewfinder/LV and not on the computer).

4. You are expected to comment on the photographs posted by others – there will be a Talk Thread for this purpose. This may be the most important rule of all!

5. Read the Talk Thread every time you post in the Photo threads, so that you do not miss out on announcements or comments – please try to join in.

6. If you cannot post every day that's okay. You can still join and catch up with posts when you can. If you do not have time to process your photos fully, don’t worry – post them with minimal processing. A challenge is not a contest.

If you have a question you can ask them below - they are very welcome!

Thanks Harald for starting this and I must say you have an impressive collection of 50's

You can sign me up. Probably only 2 lenses. A recently scored Meyer Trioplan 50/2.9 (Exacta) and then a modern grandson which I already have much longer but is hardly used, the Pentacon 50/1.8 (M42).
Obviously pic-a-day and go out shooting every day, no shots from previous or next days to be used in the daily threads..
Mind the bandwidth of others, don't link pictures larger then 1024 wide or 960 pix high, see here

That's come around fast! (But time flies when you're having fun).

I'm in once more, with my usual a99ii plus CZ 50mm f1.4 Planar.

I'll try, though work that week is insanity. I love my 50 Minolta macro and used it for OctoberFest. Might use it again or.. the Minolta 50 f1.7. Haven't touched that in forever.

I'll play. Different lens for each day since I have seven suitable lenses for this challenge:
- Sony AF 50 mm f1.4
- LensBaby Composer
- Meyer-Optik Görlitz Domiplan 2.8/50
- Sony FE 2.8/50 Macro
- Konica Hexanon AR 52 mm F1.8
- CZ Sonnar FE 1,8/55 ZA
- Zenit MC Helios-44M-5

Exact order I will decide during the week.

I reserve an option to use also other lenses in addition to these during the week 50 in case I encounter photo opportunities that could be captured better with a field of view wider or narrower than what these 50-58 mm lenses offer.

Can I be added also please.

Sold a few more this past year but still have more than enough for a week!
In no particular order..

-Sony CZ 50mm 1.4 ZA
-Topcor S 50mm f2 LTM
-Rodenstock Retina Heligon 50mm f1.9
-Re auto Topcor 58mm f1.4
-Petri Orikkor 50mm f2 M42
-Steinheil Munchen Auto Quinon 55m 1.9
-Jupiter 3 50mm 1.5.

I`d like to have used an Olympus Pen f 60mm 1.5 but it`s a FL that never seems to fit in the FL challenges, it missed out in prime week challenge too, ah well there`s always day prime.

Please add me to the list

I'll use my newly acquired A7S and Sony ZA 55/1.8
I'd resolved to not diversify into other systems but bought into micro 4/3 a couple of years ago for a smaller, lighter alternative. Now I also have the above for low light phototography at music events.
