..... have you neglected?
Over the past couple of years or so life was more than a bit topsy turvy and my photography lost momentum, mostly due to the restrictions on getting out and about. I did focus on the digital darkroom side and spent many hours getting to grips with Adobe Lightroom Classic and Photoshop, following turorials from the likes of Julieanne Kost, Nick Page and (love them or leave them) the Northrups. So mission control is fine, especially with my new M1 driven Mac. But using my toys has been neglected and I am on a mission to return to my previous enthusiasm for: 1. Stereoscopic imaging (sorry Howard for the lack of support ![]() 2. 35mm film photography with my Minoltas and Leica M2, as well as home B&W developing 3. Off camera flash after recharging my Godox V1s and 2 x V860ii with the XPros radio trigger. So there it is, and hopefully future Dyxum challenges will provide some of the opportunities. I was wondering, is it just me or is anyone else planning on returning to neglected aspects of photography you used to enjoy again? Brian |

Hi Brian,
The pandemic has definitely thrown out my photography, as has the closure of the forest range I used to photograph waterfalls in. I'm branching out more into seascapes as a result. One genre of photography I would though like to get back into, is macro photography of our small native creatures. I used to do that a lot, and on a very regular basis. |

I've been meaning to reply to this, and I think you pose an interesting question.
Well, I definitely want to do more film photography, including using my Autocord. I last contributed to the film challenge in March, with a film I ran through the camera that was donated to Oxfam by @alanfrombangor. I ought to be able to do another before six months are up. I'm still tinkering at the edges of stereo photography, but I think I should try out my paired QX1 and A5000 cameras again. I like documenting events and places, and perhaps there is more I could do to improve this aspect of what I do - more prep and better execution! |

There is a long list of things in regard to photography which I feel having been neglected by me - thank you for the question, Brian! It might help clear the mind about this!
- Generally, I can echo Howard: shooting with film is probably the aspect I feel most neglected, subjectively. I am working on it (by shooting, but also by servicing cameras - renewing the light seals and the leatherette - and by selling some of them off to reduce overall complexity). I am slowly advancing on this front. - Objectively, the most neglected aspect of my photography is postprocessing - or in other words: working on my backlog - so far a hopeless effort. - Then there is a third aspect: progressing with projects that I have begun (not even to think about their completion!) and also devising new ones (including skill-building ones). Making up a list and finding out about priorities might turn out to be really helpful! |
