Dyxum is my trigger to make more effort and shoot 35mm film and I really enjoyed last years "Film's not dead" one third keepers challenge. The challenge index does show that it isn't an annual event ('though I'd like it to be).

So is there any appetite for another film challenge this winter?

I've just been looking down at a bunch of unused film cameras

We don't tend to do a challenge between Christmas and Spring these days, so there is an opportunity to slip something in there.

I still have a half empty roll of film in the camera from the last film challenge (really found it difficult to do film) and some film in the fridge so there is no reason not to give it one more go......

Once we're in the New Year I'd be glad to give it a go!

I've had a chat with Bob and we are good to go for a film challenge. It would probably be better to publish it through December, once the format has been agreed, and than set a time period for it in the New Year before the Spring season and other challenges start rousing from hibernation!

So I suggest we use this thread to encourage, discuss and express intention to join in?

I'll start......... I'm in

Brian

I have loads of unfinished films lying around. Developing is time-consuming

I have some film in stock as well, so I will probably join as well. Agree with Snegren that it's not easy, but that's why we call it a challenge isn't it?

Well, I still have quite a number of film rolls in my freezer (and a package of sheet film). And I could help setting the challenge up!

I've got about 12 rolls of 120 & 35mm film loaded into developing tanks ready to do , getting time is the problem .
I've been using up the part rolls of film in my cameras this year so I'm ready to start again .

I was looking at some automated systems to develop film, but those are freaking expensive

I've seen them , but I didn't look too long ! I saw the price too ...

Trouble is I use a few different formats , 110 , 35mm , 120 , 5"x4" and 7"x5" , in different emulsions , needed different development times depending on how it was exposed .
So even with an automatic developer only a couple of rolls will need the same development .
As it is I have a load of developing tanks so arrange them with film that requires the same developing in each and do them in batches that way which saves time .

I've had a lot on this year with jobs to do in my free time , had to build a new engine for my old 1985 VW Transported and fit it , replace the rear trailing arms and do some welding to the body and chassis .
Just got that lot done and now the central heating boilers just packed in ( ready for winter !) so no central heating and hit or miss hot water .....
So next jobs stripping that down and fixing it .....

And the film's still in the tanks waiting to be developed ....

I think the last film challenge was back in 2017, with these guidelines - is everyone happy with going for the same thing - basically aiming to post 1/3 of the roll shot over a three month-ish period and starting off with an Alpha mount film body - if you have one...?
