Fairport Convention, the first band I saw, and now also the last, a few months short of 50 years later.

Gig was sold out, sound was perfect and the band were very well received.

Hello David, I keep getting surprised here
Do you mean the Jefferson Airplane: White Rabbit?
Jefferson Airplane was one of the original San Francisco psychedelic bands and its their song. White Rabbit was one of the original San Francisco songs, and along w the Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin and countless, countless other groups
the voice belongs to a young, beautiful Grace Slick (Hot)! The band later became the Jefferson Starship
It was possible at the time to see these bands in their prime playing for free at places like Golden Gate Park, Playland etc. I was here

if thats not the song, disregard the above

Bombino.

One of my favourite community radio stations (PBS FM, https://www.pbsfm.org.au/) finished its annual subscriber drive on the weekend. I got off the phone from renewing my patronage just in time for Stani to play a bunch of tracks from West African artists - instant reward!

That confused me too. I prefer the Great Society version to the later and more polished Airplane but both versions are top quality.

Grace brought both White Rabbit and Somebody to Love to Jefferson Airplane from Great Society, a band she co-founded with her husband. After she left GS they soon disbanded as she was the prime draw of the band and the only reason they were offered a record contract.
