Good Day from West Texas....

I'm an equipment manager for a aggregate / redi-mix company. We're right smack dab in the middle of the Permian Basin... "OIL BOOM MADNESS" Even with the price of oil being down, we managed to stay afloat....

Removal of dead trees, or dangerous limbs, that are overhanging the roadways in Pulaski County(Arkansas). In other words, I spend my days sweating above the lower limbs to keep those that drive by on cell phones, speeding or texting safe.

As I quit my job a few years ago I am now officially holding the status of Student and stay at home dad. I'm in my third year of a BSc Computing and IT, software development.

Before having this big change of heart and wanting to turn software development from a hobby to a career and return photography from a job to a hobby again, I used to work in a traditional processing lab; so in my lifetime I have developed thousands of films and printed (quite possibly) millions of prints.

If anybody has ever seen the Robin Williams film "One hour photo", that was my life, I knew anything and everything about the people in the local area. We even had our resident "amateur porn photographers" too. Needless to say, due to my current freedom, my photo processing career ended differently to Robin Williams character in the film.

I was with a government agency for 33 years, most recently as a technical expert dealing with international trade policy.

I retired in June because it would have cost me too much money if I had not. Unfortunately, budget cuts (-33%!) have prevented my team from being able to bring me back.

Currently trying to work out what I want to do for the second half of my life. Returning to university has a lot of appeal - either graduate studies in my current area of expertise, or maybe a BA or BSc in something just for fun.

My title is "Network Manager, Technical Field Services."
Managing a field crew responsible for the copper, and slowly getting there, the fiber side of everything. Copper Landlines, and now hi-speed internet installs.
Putting it simply, overworked manager, responsible for everything: cut big ass cables, damages to outside plant, failures, and budget restricted lol.

Laser Lab Shop Instructor at an art school.

Ostensibly my job is to keep students from burning the school down. In reality I maintain the laser cutters, operate a collection of smaller CNC mills, instruct students in 2D CAD (what the faculty should've done), advise them on integrated options to complete projects, and unfortunately tell a lot of people "no" for all kinds of reasons.

Very tiny slowly growing laser-cutting/fab business on the side too.
(Very tiny. )

I'm an academic librarian for two private liberal arts colleges in Minnesota. Mostly I maintain our electronic resources in the catalog, and I also catalog everything that's not a book.

Finance industry for automotive inventory. Niche thing, that fell upon me after a long two decades in big box store management.

Fortunate & grateful to have employment, a home, a wife and a new baby.
