Patrik,
It's certainly a very beautiful part of the world. I used to fly in and out many years ago when my architectural practice was engaged on a project there, but didn't really have much time to see it's attractions.
A bit hard to get to on a flying visit from Melbourne, but hopefully you'll get something going.

Actually, regional flights to the Wollongong airport from Melbourne and Brisbane are about to start up again so it's not going to be that hard!

I'm traveling to Sydney next week for a brief visit. Flying up on Wednesday 24 July and back on Saturday 27 July. I'll need to be well behaved on the Wednesday and Saturday as I'll have my wife with me, but on the Thursday and Friday she'll be at a conference (the reason for the trip) and I'll be free to go shooting. I'm still tossing up on which kit to pack.

All my visits to Sydney for the last 25+ years have been work-related, and usually staying near the airport This time we're staying somewhere in the city.

Anyone free on the Thursday or Friday to save me from taking the usual cliche images of the Bridge and the Opera House?

Adam - we'll be keeping a look out for any press clippings mentioning a Sony photographer running amok in Sydney

Have a great time and I hope there's some Forum Members over there around to control you!

Take care and safe trip, Neil.

I'll tape over the Sony brand. Either plain black tape or maybe I'll put a different brand on the camera. Whose reputation should I taint?

Bad timing unfortunately since we're going to Perisher for some skiing next week. Hopefully someone else can step up!

I have a stem-cell pickup that I've just been allocated in Brisbane - sometime during the week 23-26 September.

It is a very short trip and my body is likely to be on London time, so I might not be stunning company/awake, but if anyone is in the area and fancies meeting up, please let me know.

Bob,
Amazed by the reach of your courier trips.
Hopefully some Brisbane based Dyxum members will be able to rendez-vous with you during your flying visit.

Thanks Joe - I'm a few years too late for Patrik, who was based in Brisbane when I did the Melbourne trip, but he is off south of Sydney now...

Hmm, you can just hop on a regional flight to Wollongong airport and come down to the beautiful Illawarra!

G'day Bob,

Ive just put in the calendar that your coming into Brisbane on those dates.

I cant speak for other members who are in Brisbane, but I live around a 5 hr drive away and will come down for when you are in Brisbane and I will stay in the area for a few days so that if one days doesnt suit you then I can still be around for when it does.

Please let this thread know or your usual dedicated thread know if circumstances change.

I will txt the other Dyxum members who live in Brisbane know about your intended visit and they can also chime in if they choose. Those members dont often log into Dyxum much these days.

Regards,
Craig

P.S. I've just checked my schedule for September and I would not be able to be there on the 23rd as I have already committed myself to judging a photo competition on the evening of the 23rd, so I would be driving down on the 24th.

The dates cover my leaving London to delivering in Leicester, so I'm highly likely to be travelling on the 23rd, so 24-25 is maybe more likely for me to actually be in town... (just how jetlagged I don't know).

...because of the way the whole transplant stuff works, I'm rather obviously at the service of whatever schedule the doctors both ends have, but usually the Nolan charity try to give us two clear days between arriving and picking up..

The other thing is that stuff can get cancelled, sometimes at the last minute (if either the donor is unwell, or if the recipient is too unwell to take the transplant)...

Apologies if the uncertainty is in any way offputting - Would be great to see people if it all works out through.

G'day Bob,

I have let Keith_H and Akunde know of your scheduled visit.
For me, the dates are ok being flexible, but I know that Keith_H may find times a little difficult.

I can work around your schedule no problems. Knowing of any cancellation by the 23rd by the latest would be good so that I dont drive the 800KM+ round trip if your visit is cancelled.

Keith responded to my text message and we are trying to catch up this week as I will be down near Brisbane on other committments. I guess that he is likely to drop in here and advise his intentions.

Regards,
Craig
