I too will be sur le continent in a few weeks. I'll be staying in Haaften (Gelderland) and would be happy to join an informal meetup in the neighbourhood or a train ride away. (I might have a car too, but that is yet to be resolved ...).
My dates are 30 May - 3 June, and it would be great to meet any Bene-Dyxummers one day that week. |

Haaften of all places
![]() However, nice view on Zaltbommel, the river Waal and the famous bridges there. But, you are there during weekdays, aren't you? Edited by Harm vb - 07 May 2022 at 15:59 |

@Jet - That would be good. I am keen to visit this place after seeing images from Pieter and Leo. It is about 1hr 30 from my daughter's home near Mons. I propose to set off early after seeing my grandson off to morning school, and get to Verbeke in good time for opening. It looks like a place with so much to see and I may well spend most of the day there.

Well, I’m there over the weekends before and after as well, but they have other claims on my time. A long time ago I once went to Gorinchem to look for a place to get euros (or it may have been guilders or perhaps pounds?) and what seemed like the only bank in town advised me to go to the border to try my luck. Being retired and on holiday is easy for me, but I appreciate it may be less so for others. If I can get a bike I’d be interested in exploring Loevestein, Woudrichem, Vuren, as well as Gorinchem. (I assume ferries are operational to/from Loevestein.) I could cycle from Haaften, or pick one up in Gorinchem. As ever I assume there will be a dry and sunny day! Or, on a wet day, put me on a train and I’ll go to the railway museum in Utrecht, or something. |

Sounds good.. although it is a very (traffic) buzzy road I have to take. I don't really know how early I can be there but will do my best. |

Jet: Yes it would be good to meet again, and the more the merrier. Let's fix a date when we know if there is any other interest. Are you fairly flexible on times and places?
Harm: Let's keep open the possibility of a drink one evening. The golden hour can deliver some fine images and surely works well with great rivers and fortifications. |

Yes.. or No.. or Maybe ![]() My current job (Covid contact investigator) stops next week Friday 13th.. I have 2 jobinterviews and both contacted me via LinkedIn. I don't know how it will go - If I get the job - and when it will start and what days to work. (both jobs already confirmed wanting me but it is up to negotiation on the terms now) No job - is all the flexibility in the world.. I can drive up to Haaften and meet or drive to a meetingpoint with others or whatever.. I don't mind. (Den Bosch could be nice aswell or pick your tourist location and we can go there) I can even take my bike with me - bike-carrier on the car. Job but starting in June - Just the Maydays available. Job but starting right away.. uhhhhmmmm... I work 24 hours.. so that would depend on the days I have to work. Currently working on Thu-Wedn-Fri but if new employer prefers otherwise I cannot tell. |

I can firm up my suggestion for a possible DMM. I'm going to Hoorn (NH) on 31 May and would be free from 12-16.00 there.
I'll be at the statue to Jan Pietersz Coen on the Rode Steen at 12 noon and would be glad to walk around the old town and harbour with anyone who can make it. It's a pretty place and has bars and cafes to ease the journey. |
