H2Oboy,

Unfortunately I won't be able to make it out ot Missouri the end of September and I hope you have a good time. I lived in Branson during my high school and college years and there are plenty of photo opportunities. Some of my favorites include the base of Table Rock Dam at the start. During the early mornings, you can get some excellent shots of mist forming on Lake Tannycommo (sp?). Also there is Talking Rock Cavern which has some great cave formations and will give AS a workout.

Hope you enjoy yourself!
Kirk

Well, I am sorry to say I will not be going anywhere in September. That may have been the last opportunity of the year for me as well. I'll be sticking close to home for a while.

Well, I just signed on for a sea tour of Greece on the "Pantheon" ( a sailing yacht) with 6 other family members. So, I will have to start saving my vacation days. It should be a great trip, but I will have to skip a fall southern Missouri trip later this month.

Do you think I will be shooting Greece with a KM 5D or a bright and shiny Sony A700? ;-)

BTW, I may be up in the Kansas City area during the October 13th / 14th weekend. Are there any Kansas City / Lawrence, Kansas A-mount shooters? I hope to add to my collection of The University of Kansas shots.

Ok guys n gals, I have a condo for the last week of September reserved. No charge... :) Sept 24th thru the 30th. The condo has two BRs/2baths and a pull out sofa in the living room, not to mention the kitchen. It is located in Branson, Missouri... not far from those state parks that we talked about above. I'll be there the entire week.

It's still just me and girlfriend Trish (she loves photography too). Anyone else want to meet us...doesn't have to be the whole week, the weekend perhaps??

I think you should, and you should bring that Sigma 14 and 15mm fish for me to try. :)   PM me for my cell number if you want it, you know... just in case it's a last minute decision.

Unfortunately my 7D has gone back to Precision. As you know I canceled my September plans when my 7D started acting up again. I have a 7 and a 9 among other film bodies and an Oly UZI but my spirit is broken. I have no illusions on fast or satisfying repairs either. I just got it back from Precision and almost immediate had AF failure and FFB. It would be nice if they offer to buy it. I have an additional 90 day warranty from Precision and 2 years to July 2009 from Square Trade so Precision is married to it for some time.

Canceled my A700 order. I messed up the order yesterday and lost free shipping when I tried to correct it today. I'll wait for a better price now. Jeez, I can't seem to do anything right anymore :-( I tried to get in on a $100 discount for new Sony card holders --but I have a Sony card I got when I bought my TV more than 6 years ago. I never used it because it ended up with 27% interest so I never used it. I can't be a "new" Sony card user then. I just thought I could apply for another card. Oh well.

BTW: Lake of the Ozarks is not just about caves. In fact I didn't know about them until it was brought up here. I am not remotely interested in caves and would not have gone into one on purpose.

Sorry to hear about you cancelling your trip. I suppose without your 'tool of choice' it makes the trip less appealing. Hey, when the a700s get here, i'll come up farther north and you can show me those caverns at that park you want to go to!

I am slightly hopefull that a 1st week of October ship date will happen. Sometimes it is really disappointing being an optimist all of the time.

How's that schedule looking?

Any others want to stay at a resort for free and take pictures for days? Trish and I are driving ~460 miles to get there (7 hours), so surely there's a couple more that'll wanna drive for a only a couple hours to get this beautiful location. Just trying to drum up some company with fellow enthusiasts for this little trip, after all... its a dyxum supported meeting, right?

The schedule is looking good. I won't be there until late afternoon on Monday though.
I also will be leaving Friday morning because I have to work Friday night.
Looks like I will be coming from a little farther away then you, ~620 miles and ~10 hours of driving.
Looking forward to a little get away.

Can you guys share some of your photos from this trip? --or did I miss them posted elsewhere in the forum? I need a pick-me-up to restore my optimism!

I'll second that! Any photos from southern Missouri?

Thanks,

Anyone for Kansas City during Thanksgiving holiday (Nov. 23rd, 24th, 25th or the 26th)? There is a lot to shoot in KC, the City of Fountains.
