I _might be interested in venue / performance shooting, but probably only closer to me (Marin/Sonoma counties).

OK, I'm going to go ahead and set it up for a group of a half-dozen at Filoli on Mar. 24. There are lots of great ideas in this thread that we should follow up on, but since reservations are needed for this I'm going to move it forward.

How many are certain they will attend?

Nothing is on the calendar for me that day, so I am in. If my wife comes along, does she have to pay as well?

Yes, there is an admission fee whether she wants to hang out in the gardens, come on the hike, etc.

So two for sure? Phoenix, are you going to make it three? I need to work out a few details with the docent. If we can't fill a normal-size group(6-8 people) then there is a risk that other people(non photographers) may take the remaining slots and at some point start whingeing about the time we take photographing.

That's one of he things I need to work out with the docent, whether she is willing to limit the group size. Once everything is lined up we can each call up and make our own prepaid reservations, or... I'm willing to take care of reservations for anyone who will guarantee that they will make good on it, show or no-show.

Hi Dave, thank you for asking. The proposed day is a clinic day for me, so I will not be able to make it. But thank you anyhow. Actually, Phoenix is my cat's name. He can't make it either. My name is Elijah. But maybe another day that I am not working. Hope all have a wonderful time. I haven't been there myself. warm wishes to everyone, elijah

Sorry about that Elijah. We'll have to get together another day -- SC will soon be 1/2 hour closer to home so I'm sure I'll be spending a lot more time on that side.

I'm still in. Wife isn't for sure yet, but we can get her a ticket on our own.

Well, after all of that... I can't make the 24th. We're closing on a house on the 29th and after figuring in everything we need to do to the house pre-move the only date that works for the actual move(hiring movers for the big stuff) the only date that works is the 24th. <ducks>

Sorry to get folks hyped up on this idea, only to have it come to this... unfortunately there is nothing I can do to alter course of this juggernaut.

OTOH, I'm pretty excited about the move, if all goes well I'll be able to come up for air a few weeks further into Spring.

I just moved to the Bay Area, and I would love to join any meet up you plan, my schedule in March is fairly light.

Once I get moved I'll definitely be up for some outings. Though I won't have to go far to get nice pics... here is the view from the neighbor's house, I'll be on a ridge at the same altitude, just out of the frame to the right. This is a typical morning on the mountain:

Oh sure...arrange a meeting and then move to a great place and be able to take amazing pics all by yourself

That's a pretty awesome shot. I watch a friend's house every now and then in Saratoga Hills and get some pretty awesome sunrises/sunsets as well.
