I'm up for a day of trying to shoot some pics of deer. August is big cats, October is 16mm only month, so that leaves November for the deer shoot? They should be rutting then.

Yeah, I\m certainly keen on a Richmond Park fest. I will (well before then) have my tipster article on how to shoot deer at Richmond Park on my website. So it will be pre-reading for those that want it. And it will be wear old trousers day out, you need to knee to get in close, and you'll all love how close we can get.

Needs some homework on dates though, no rush. But catching the rut season is excellent, the stag Red deer are calling and look really sweaty and mean. Makes for some ace photography, but its the only time of the year when they will not walk away from you when you appraoch, meaning, they might walk AT and THROUGH you. I'll go into depth on-line in an article. The only safe way to do it is to ahve 360deg vision, you do not want to get between a stag and his rival, or a stag and his women. (unless you are me, and stupid!)

it would be good to have a couple of gatherings, I've never shot deer in a group before, but the best way to learn the technique here is to watch each other. It can be a fiarly long and cold day out though. The benefit being that you'd never get this close in the wild.

Also interested in both - would love to have a go at the deer with the 300/2.8 and lessons from "the master"! - but - I'm off to Skye for a week travelling over the weekends 11-12 & 18-19, so conflict with Bob except for 25-26 or 1-2 Sept [off to Scotland for 3wks on 07/09] - so unless then, will have to miss this one as well [typical - first summer in years that I'm away in July & Aug, and I'll prob miss 2 meets - damn!]

...as for autumn colour, when I went looking last year it seems [global warming?] that the colours don't really change until into November these days - and even then I didn't really have much success! - will be interested to hear others thoughts for locations [guess I should have a look at Sherwood!]

Even if you are by nature a solitary photographer, you are likely to get a real buzz out of meeting up with other Dyxum members to take photographs. It is fascinating to see how others tackle photographic subjects and great to actually meet the people you have been conversing with on-line.

This topic is for discussion of possible meetings anywhere in the UK. Dyxum members are invited to suggest meetings and make preliminary plans in this thread. Once you have settled on a venue and date/dates, PM me or any other admin/moderator about having a specific planned event thread set up (this makes your event more visible to other members!).

Keep an eye on regions that are near where you live and, if you are visiting somewhere that has a group, why not drop them a line in their regional thread?
