I'm always up for the seaside

It's interesting that it's those of us that are landlocked the most (Reading/Newbury/Oxford) that might desire it the most. Dorset and the Purbeck Isle might work, what with Corfe Castle and the steam railway to Swanage...

Day visits are quite restrictive, you can usually get a good price for Sunday nights at chain hotels. I generally prefer urban meets for their concentrated photographic possibilities, ease of travelling there by rail and proximity to cafes/pubs/hotels.

I can recommend Birmingham but wouldn't be interested in a repeat visit so soon after my last one.

I'd like to come, I would recomment Lpool over Brum & not just because I'm local but because it has shed loads of great photographic locations etc and more diverse than Brum - eg seaside
But happy to go with the flow, agree with Alan that a 'good value' overnight would be great - strongly suggest that we don't do Saturday as too busy with party goers.
Good luck herding cats !!

Having actually lived in both places (Lpool and Brum), I'd suggest Liverpool and if you really want less city/urban can always take a trip across the Mersey to Wirral which is super nice.

Not keen on the accents from either place though, but you only have to put up with it for a day or two

Well Liverpool seems to be coming out as favoured over anywhere else. I will have to stand back and let someone more “local” take on the co-ordination this time. Regrettably it is too far for me and would be too costly in time away and for travel and overnight(s).

Is Derbyshire better for you, Brian? There's a Steampunk Weekend at Crich Tramway Village on 9/10 September.

Some photos from last year's event.

Alan, apologies for tardy response , life somehow gets in the way of our favourite pursuits. Anyway, off grid I had a chat with Howard and he brought up the topic of a Crich Tramway Village location for our meet. It's near Matlock, Derbyshire, which is very workable for me and I am certainly up for that location, if others are too.

The Steampunk event isn't of particular interest but I'd be happy to go to the Tram Museum any date, subject to diary commitments not clashing with SWMBO's golfing events home and away (I'm Ollie and Rosie walking/sitting on those days!)

So what do others think?

It's just about OK from here (Oxford) - a couple of hours? I don't know the area that well, but I'm up for the museum and if we can combine with some countryside/landscape that would be good.

I'm amenable to most locations, but can't make the Steampunk weekend owing to other commitments.

Another option might be Cheltenham - a Georgian spa with quite impressive street art. https://www.cheltenhampaintfestival.co.uk/

Well, I think last night's local TV news is too much of a coincidence to ignore. Crich Tramway Village is calling and to nail down the many and varied suggestions (thank you everyone who joined in to this recent proposal) I'd like to suggest it as a location for our next meet. If we don't settle on a place that is in reach of some, we'll not get this off the ground before the end of Autumn (we missed the summer as that was a couple of days in June!!)

If anyone is up for this lets start the next ball rolling with day and date. Weekday or weekend (I prefer a weekday), August or September?

Anyone? Please

I've only a short window in Aug/Sep, Fri 8th Sep to Mon 11th, have to be back on the 12th for a dentist appointment then we're off on holiday to bonny Scotland. Nothing significant planned from 30th Sep.

Happy to drop out if the general consensus is for a date I'm unavailable.

At the moment 4-8/9 and after 21/9 look promising for me.
