It seems that Piccadilly is being chosen to fit my arrival? If so I have a spanner to put in the works! I will be there as planned, but have just realised (typical bad planning in my part) that most museums will be closed on Monday. As I particularly want to visit Salford Museum it will have to be on Sunday, between my arrival and 4pm.
Perhaps you two may wish to join up earlier and check out Castleford in slightly better light - and I will join you at Salford Quays?

I'm happy visiting the museum as I've not been there before .
Likewise getting into town earlier isn't a problem , being local .
So I'm easy either way .

Possibly visit Castlefield on Monday ? The area of interest isn't a large area .
Just takes a bit of a walk to get there from the other side of the town center .

It’s 2025 and with Spring in the air is it time to start planning our next UK Dyxum meet?

To start the ball rolling I’d like to offer London as a location. I don’t get to the capital that often but whenever I do I really enjoy the multitude of photo opportunities it offers. In the past we have been to Greenwich and the South Kensington museums, and on those meets we had the company of our friends from over the channel. So who might be interested? (I hope Bob J is because he really is our local expert). I am keen to photograph the south bank and the river.

So please add your thoughts. When, where, what. Let’s toss it about and hopefully come up with a plan.

Brian

Well, I'm up for most stuff - I can generally fit a date in around my Nolan trips and should be able to attend (barring family emergencies).

Some options spring to mind:

South Kensington Museums
RAF Museum
Greenwich
Docklands/Wapping
South Bank
Brands Hatch

I think all of these can be done for free and, other than Brands Hatch are accessible by public transport (if we had a couple of people with cars they could pick thers up from a station). Brands Hatch is expensive for race days, but practice days/track days (most Fridays) are free entry and free parking and offer an opportunity to shoot some moving vehicles with relatively few people or other distractions around.

...There may be other places as well - I'm keen to go to places I haven't been before - so I's be very interested in other suggestions.

The RAF Museum and Brands Hatch would be new to me, but I couldn't see a free day at Brands Hatch at their website, not that I checked every event.

The Thames Cable Car might have some interesting views (I have never ridden it) and I don't know if that could be incorporated into walk plans with a river boat to or from the central area?

Otherwise, yes, I'd be game for something somewhere ...

For Brands, the midweek days (so track days and testing days) are free. They tend to show up on the strip calendar 'Whats on track at Brands Hatch' thingie as black, while the events you have to pay for seem to be red.. They usually have a testing day on Fridays (prior to the weekend events)

I'd be interested in a London DM, but Brands Hatch is less attractive (cars driving round in circles are not my thing) - but, if it's free and I'm not doing anything else I could use it to practise my panning skills.

Overall I'd prefer a day in London.

Thanks Phil, and on that note, before this proposal completely loses traction, let us say we do have a 2025 UK meet in the capital city, please help in firming up a date. After which we can decide on the location.

So, London, 2025, would you prefer:

May / June / July?

and either:

week day or Sat/Sun?

I like London, it isn't too expensive or difficult to access by train, avoiding the obvious peak travel times and I have happy memories of my days with Dyxumers at Greenwich in 2013 and South Kensington museums in 2018 and it is high time for another one

EDIT: This post is intended for everyone, not just Phil

My London suggestions are above, and I'd be game for a June weekday.

I can't do June and May may be too short notice - so I'd prefer July. I am not worried about the day.
