I heard on our BBC News this morning that all Holland's windmills will be still in respect of the death of your Prince - an amazing tribute & our sympathies to the nation.

Thanks Michele. The mill was built 1908/09 on the foundations of the original mill that was destroyed by fire. The lower building was added later (no reference as to when). The style of the lower building matches that of the Bernisse Molen in Geervliet (as I passed that one on the way home from Veere, it is a restaurant as you say).

Some say it is the oldest windmill in the Netherlands: De Buitenmolen in Zevenaar. Sources mention a working mill on this spot in the 15th century.
