Since I was in Dyxum, this was my goal, to win a DPC, that inspired me, but I never thought it will be the Best of.. And in such a tough competition.. Thank you for your votes, and congratulations to the HM's!

Congrats pdave. I remember seeing that photo posted, and decided right then it would be my vote for POTY, even if I had to write it in.

Great winner - very worthy. Congratulations pdave! Now you'll be on the home page forever!

Greenfinch Fight is a real beauty too.

I am very, very flattered to be included with an honorable mention.

Congrats to All, all terrific photos and all would be very difficult to reproduce the circumstances that permitted these events to be photographed.

Truely one in a lifetime stuff.

@PDave how do you process HDR to look so natural. Each time I even consider looking at doing a HDR it always looks over-over-over-cooked and I dont even proceed, because I dont like that HDR look, whereas your looks completely natural.

Regards,
Craig

The most important thing was, that the lighting on that picture was very good. I didn't have to play with the sliders too much to achieve the HDR effect, I used it because the exposure difference was too big. The pp was mostly done in Lr3, after reimported from Photomatix.
But if you want natural look, I suggest to use the Exposure fusion in Photomatix, not the Tone mapping (or if you use it, just be careful with the sliders ) or the HDR function in CS5, that gives you a really natural look.
