Dear Dyxumers,

After counting all votes I am pleased to announce the photo which won the competition for the best "Ortonized" (hmm, or maybe "Ortonified"?) photo:

"Trent Park Duckpond" by Llew81

Honourable Mention awards this time go to:

"Schlumbergera" by darosa

and

"Another Time" by Bob J

Congratulations to the winner and the HMs and thank you all for voting and participation in this DPC.

Happy shooting,
MiPr

One of the toughest DPC's I can recall for a long while; the success depended on combining both the execution of a challenging technique and a suitable subject that shows the 'Glow' off to best effect.

The winning entry certainly does that with the two HM's following up very closely behind.

Well done everyone and a well deserved winner.

Best regards, Neil.

Congrats to Llew81 for winning this challenging competition.
Lovely shot, with those typical vibrant Orton colours.
And a big to Bob for proving that the Orton effect can work very well without colours too.
And of course I'm very pleased for my shot to get an HM too.

While only a relatively small number of shots made it into the finals of this comp, the three at the top are each in their own way very good examples of what was being sought. Congrats to their "authors".

I'm glad I joined the Orton challenge and found out about this technique (thanks MiPr).
As Neil said, it does require attention at shooting time and PP-time. My attempts in the challenge were no good, but I have improved my skills in this area since then.

But not as much as required for the winning shot (very nice) and HMs.
Congrats on results and winning

Wow… never expected to actually win one of these things!!

Big thank you to those who voted for my picture!

I did like the challenge a lot and generally like the effect after being introduced to it by Roger in one of his posts some time ago… I just got very lucky with the weather for this picture really, the nice light and autumn colours…

My favourite was Darosa's… I really like the creamy texture in the christmas cactus and background.

Thank you all very much again, and hope you all enjoy the New Year celebrations.

What a contest! Many strong contenders but in the end, three great pics and the winner is a beaut. Well done all!

Congrats to all! This was a fun one.
I'd venture to say that everyone who experimented with the Orton effect and submitted an entry was a winner.

This was a tough contest because it's a tough effect to master, difficult to know what's a good occasion to use the effect. The winner and HMs are all great examples of when this effect really pays off.
