Dear Dyxumers,

a large number of excellent images has been submitted to this contest. The more amazing is it that the winner photo has collected almost twice as many points as its closest competitors. And here is another gem for DYXUM's hall of fame:

"Winter Tree" by bigsi

The Honourable Mention awards go to the following photos ...

"Loggia" by WestCoastCannuck

"girlfriend" by angora

... and ...

"Tram junction" by Bob J

Congratulations to the winner and the HMs and thank you all for voting and participation in this DPC!

Happy shooting,
waldo_posth

Great winner, great HMs.
I know a pro photographer here in Melbourne who is increasingly using square crop for his commercially framed images, influenced by Instagram's default format.
And of course square crop has a long and proud history going back to the old 6cm x 6cm negatives of the twin lens and single lens reflex cameras using negative medium format.
Congratulations all.

Great image, Simon and beautifully presented for us - a fine winner indeed.

Also well done to the HM's listed - strong images in their own right and fitting the theme of the competition really well.

A good DPC this time which allowed people to explore that oft-ignored format of presentation!

Best regards, Neil.

A nice surprise! Thanks for the votes and comments everyone, I'm particularly chuffed as there were some very fine photos in this dpc and I've always had problems with square crops.

Well done to the HMs, it really was a great DPC

A lovely set, including the HM's but the winner is definitely a worthy shot. I'd missed this entire competition so it's a real pleasure to discover here!
