Wow! I couldn’t tell you how honored I am. This is truly a high point on what has been an especially difficult last few months. I have been with dyxum for a very long time Sony a100days, and remember all the previous photos of the year. Whether it was kapachuskys back to back black and white stunners, Fred’s awesome photo to beat her and end her two year run, one very cool kingfisher, andys great photo in 2022, nandbytes cosmic galaxy in 2021, a very cool empty streets of Paris Ala Covid in 2020. To now be amongst those previous greats and others is a true honor. A little backstory on the photo itself. Ive been trying for five years to get a good shot of the scene in fall foliage. during that time of the year it gets quite cold especially in the mornings. The difference in ambient air temperature from the water usually results in dense fog rendering the scene un shootable. That nixed roughly 75 percent of the shots. Some years the leaves never turned. The aspens literally just turned black and the leaves fell. Thier were also instances where the color of the sky just never materialized which is pretty Typical for landscape photographers. The morning tranquil beauty was shot I arrived an hour before sunrise. I could see no clouds in the sky so I wasn’t optimistic. I also noticed a dense cloud bank low on the horizon. I figured it would be another shotless morning their which is still ok as it’s still outdoors in a beautiful place. As Dawn was approaching a very unique pink hue emerged and the cloud bank stayed just far enough away. Marveling at true beauty I clicked the shutter one time. Literally two minutes later the fog bank in the background moved our way and shrouded the scene in fog. Thankyou again for honoring my photo. I also want to congratulate all the other entries. Truly some stunning photos. It was hard for me to cast a vote their were so many great shots.
