Captured at an air show at Tinker AFB, OK.
The storm clouds opened up shortly after I photographed them. Gotta love the Mid West USA. I was watching the clouds more than my camera so I didn’t drop shutter speed and get the proper prop blur but I still like them. 1) B-25 Mitchell “Super Rabbit” ![]() 2) Fly By ![]() 3) B-29 “DOC” ![]() 4) Fly By ![]() |

Thanks! They are a treat to observe while flying. I love the sound and harmonics of the radial engines, boy they sound sweet! I can only imagine the sound of dozens of B-29s in flight. Edited by Micholand - 20 June 2019 at 17:22 |

Great shots! Summer is a great time to see all these wonderful aircraft at shows and one of the companies that offers flights on some of these restored planes is the Collings Foundation and each year have a tour to various cities. I was a passenger on their B-17 last summer in honor of my Dad who was a navigator on one. It's truly a different experience well worth while if you have the opportunity. When you see the ground zipping past through the pop riveted seams and think that aluminum skin was all there was between enemy fighters and antiaircraft fire, it gives one an appreciation for the daring of these young men. The B-25 always reminds me of the Doolittle Raiders and you captured it well. Thank you!

Wow; irrespective of the image itself, seeing a B29 in the air must just be the most spine tingling thing ever! That would definitely be high on any 'wish list' I could come up with. However, the image is also pretty good; I think it would stand a heavy-ish crop to make it stand out a little more, plus you have the benefit of the cloud in the background as a lovely canvass on which to sit. The aircraft is in super condition, clearly - that reflective finish just shows how unbothered the US Air Force were about these being seen whilst on mission I guess.
The Mitchell image is pretty good - but it ain't no B29!! Thanks for sharing and best regards, Neil. |

#2 is beautiful
![]() My grandfather was in the Pacific in WWII maintaining/repairing B29s, if I recall correctly, thought it might've been another plane. I'll have to check. Lovely to see one flying, though, as others have said. |

LOL I have photos of FiFi when it was here in Oklahoma City. I went on board and really enjoyed the old bird. I didn’t get to go fly it was all booked up. |

Great shots. Love #3, a variation on the theme your last week's Dyxum Exhibition inclusion "Nose Jobs" photo of this same aircraft with the reflections in the polished aluminium and the perspex.
I also love the modified version of #4 as suggested by Neil. Thanks for sharing, and hopefully there's more?? |
