Amazing how big some of these ships are.

That's a good one Mike! A nice contrast between the cruise ship and the sailing boat, connected by the speedy one (is that a pilot?)

Beautiful pic! This is the rare case (at least for me) when I would like to see the color version as well - probably for that special summer feeling the B/W image transmits. Would the color image do this even better? And is this the English coast we are seeing at the horizon?

Thanks Harald!
Here is the colour version as requested. ![]() A99ii + 70-400G The coast we are seeing has been part of the British empire, but it is not English. The picture was taken, late afternoon, at Mackenzie beach, Larnaca, Cyprus. We had a short stop there on our way to the airport at the end of our last holiday. It is located very near the airport. This one and this one were taken from the same position Edited by Fred_S - 18 September 2018 at 22:38 |

So it's not Knokke beach and the chalk cliffs of Dover! The summer feeling obviously can be ubiquitous.
Thank you for the color version (this time my preference)! |

The Royal Princess hanging about in Royal Bay, Colwood, BC. Of course I was on the wrong side of the lagoon for a good shot - I don't remember ever seeing one moored like this close to the lagoon. (not quite as close as it appears though given this is a 560mm shot - a fair bit of compression here.)

Beautiful shot - the ship really stands out in a 3D-way: Duotone or colored grad filter for the blue sea part?

Thanks Harald! In the original, I really like the light on the ship but the rest of the image did not appeal. As I sometimes do when I have a shot like that I ran it through all the available presets in NIK colour effex and there was one that was interesting. "Bleached Portrait". It was too much... but after some fiddling with it and adding a slight warming of the whole image I got it to this. I thought the punchy look suited a Navy frigate!
