Hi everyone,
Further images from the mammoth Terraces as we make our way down to the main are of Mammoth. The following show the subdued colours of the travertine terraces off quite nicely: 1. Small Bush and Pool ![]() 2. Alive With Thermophiles ![]() 3. Tendrils ![]() 4. The Steps ![]() 6. Pastel Travertine ![]() I was fascinated by this feature; the more you looked at it them more you could find hidden in its depths. More of this in a later posting. 7. Pool Edge Patterns ![]() 8. Still Cold ![]() It was still around -20 - 25C at this time hence the steam rising! 9. Salmons, Yellows and Greens ![]() 10. Yellows and Greens ![]() 11. Casting Long Shadow ![]() 12. Three Sticks ![]() 13. Lower Terrace ![]() 14. Colours and Patterns ![]() Thanks for looking through these and comments, as always, most welcome Best regards, Neil. |

Having never been to Yellowstone I would not associate the steps images with Yellowstone unless you had presented them here. #4 with its symmetry, balance (heaviness on the bottom) and evenness of the long horizontals and filling the frame is my my favorite with #6 a close second. Fascinating.

Hi Roger,
Thanks for the comment and it also made me realise I had 'skipped' #5 in the numbering! Too late to correct now so never mind. I also must now take you to task: you have lived in the USA all your life and yet you have never been to Yellowstone?! Tell you what; I will 'correct' my behaviour and visit the East Coast (next year; Acadia on the bill!), if you take the plunge and agree to go to Yellowstone some time in the next couple of years... Does that sound like a deal? ![]() ![]() Take care and best regards, Neil. |

There is no need for me to visit Yellowstone - I have seen over the last few years every possible image to be taken while I reside right here in the coziness of my home while looking at your posts. It is difficult for me to admit that I had a brother-in-law that lived in Jackson Hole for years and I never visited him there! For whatever reason I am drawn to either the lesser photographed national parks or the ones close to home. See you in Acadia. ![]() |

The fascination just doesn't end! Again, a marvelous selection of images, Neil!
Hard to pick any favorites! #2 and #3 are on the top if one goes for unusual, surprising sights! TFS! |
