So, the final day of travelling into Yellowstone Park from West Yellowstone has passed and we now make the transition from there to Gardner at the North gate to the park. This allows us to enter the park in 4x4 vehicles and to explore more that side of the parkland, with places such as Mammoth Hot springs and The Lamar valley to entice us.

However, to get there, one first has to make the journey from Wet Yellowstone to Gardner and to take in the opportunities as they present themselves - and it pays to have one's eyes 'peeled' along the way:

1. Moose On The Hillside

2. Montana Fenceline

3. Sage Bush With A Snow Dusting

4. American Bald Eagle - Perching

5. Cottonwood Row

7. Golden Eagle - Leaving The Roost

8. Patriotism

I never cease to be amazed and impressed in equal measure by how highly the flying of the Stars and Stripes is held throughout the whole of the USA. Even in these dark days, it's such a positive message for the country as a whole - though, of course, the meanings may be different for different people...

9. More Cottonwoods

10. An L. S. Lowry Landscape - #1

11. An L. S. Lowry Landscape - #2

12. An L. S. Lowry Landscape - #3

13. Farm Road

14. White tailed Deer

I am still trying to work out where #'s 10 through 13 were taken exactly; it's a very striking location in the winter though one has to wonder if this is still the case outside of that season? I suspect not.

Thanks for looking and comments always welcomed.

Best regards, Neil.

My Mantra: "Comment on other's work as you would wish to have yours commented upon". Go on - it's fun!

So diverse, so interesting. #10 is #1 - a superb, almost abstract, image that reveals the desolation and foreboding environment. I feel this image, I don't just see it. Had #10 not been in the series, #11 would be #1. I prefer the simplicity of #10 with the great corner to corner diagonal. Of the others, both #12 and #13 with the warm colored grasses contrasting very nicely with the stark background present other "feel" images with #12 providing scale of the massive mountain formations with the smallish foreground, a great composition.

P.S. After letting these sit for awhile and now taking a second look, #11 is probably my preferred image. Then, again, in a couple of days I might be back to #10. My wife says I can be fickle, as evidenced here.

P.P.S. I like the bluer color cast of #'s 10 and 11 as opposed to #'s 12 and 13 - makes it feel even colder.

Both bird of prey shots are great. And a moose in stead of a bison, that’s progress
The trees in 10-13 give the feeing they were drawn in. I can see why you’re curious of what they look like in the green season.
Was the week that you stayed there enough to melt all the Day-1 snow or is the other half of the park early with signs of Spring?
#2; is the fence really the fence line and if so: why do they bother?
Anyway, a nice addition to an already fine series.

I think I like this part of the series the most, especially numbers 10 to 13 :)
