Need to post many more photos. Winter is coming in my mountains so hope to have plenty of time to post many more photos
![]() Have had the fortune to visit Yosemite often thru the years. Have photos from the 70's but they are all Kodak prints. Digitals started around 2005 🤷♂️ w my Maxxum 5D, which I wore out. Have about 50 Yosemite's itself picked out. Then a collection of Tioga Pass, the top of Yosemite. Not easy to do, the pass from the valley to Mono Lake is only open around 3 months of the year, depending on snow fall amount, it is over 10,000ft. Then a collection of early Mono Lakes. Spectacular Tioga Pass views. Going to start, saying "There is no bad time to visit Yosemite" My totally inadequate homage to Ansel 1 ![]() Yosemite Falls by Coast, on Flickr This falls under "There is no bad time to visit Yosemite"...It is always Spectacular 2 ![]() Yosemite Falls in spring by Coast, on Flickr 3 ![]() Yosemite Falls in Fall 2008 by Coast, on Flickr 4 ![]() Yosemite Falls by Coast, on Flickr 5 ![]() Yosemite in Winter 2008 by Coast, on Flickr 6 ![]() Yosemite, the Valley floor by Coast, on Flickr 7 ![]() Half Dome, the King by Coast, on Flickr Can't get enough Half Dome 8 ![]() Yosemite Valley, Half Dome by Coast, on Flickr 9 ![]() Bridal Veil 1st view by Coast, on Flickr 10 ![]() Many aspects of Yosemite by Coast, on Flickr much more to come ![]() Edited by Coast - 03 February 2023 at 04:34 |

Thanks for posting these Joseph, I especially like the first Yosemite Falls and the two half domes but the whole series is nice and diverse. I've been there once in 1982 so this brings back all those good memories, hoping to see much more from your many visits there.

Hi Joseph,
These are just lovely and take me back to the one and only time we have visited there (hopefully to be corrected at some point in time). What strikes me about these are the naturalness of the images - the colours, hues and tones are 'just' as I recall them and the quality of the air is plain to see throughout the set. Working through a few of them, #2 is the 'classic' (well, almost) view of Bridal Veil falls and the way you've captured the spray is lovely - a good spread of water but allowing the rest of the rock face to show through. Like the others, it's also tightly cropped on the real focal point and it works really well. #5 is an interesting shot as, by including the cars in the foreground, you give a great sense of scale to the shot. Like #2, it also has a lovely feel to it with the clouds adding a nice sense of atmosphere. #7 - Half Dome and an iconic view of this landmark. You've captured the sheer size and dominance in the landscape really well and I like the geological formations and patterns the light brings out. #10 shows a very different mood but it works really well; it's time of the year where we don't often see images but it's a nice change to see the changing mood of the place. And finally, #1 - I love this image and the B&W conversion has been sympathetically handled and really portrays the mood and impact of the place. It's possibly a little bright in the upper left corner but I think the nature of the rest of the location overcomes that in this case. A fine series and a real 'nudge' to remind some of us (me!) of what else there is to see in this fine country. Thanks for sharing and take care. Best regards, Neil |

Proof you do not need the latest, greatest equipment to get good pictures. Like this series. Love the homage to Ansel, very fitting. Maybe an hommage to Ansel can be something for a challenge?
Anyway, the half dome is impressive. TFS! |

Thank you all, I understand your memories and appreciate them.
Interesting the ones who comment are the ones who have been there #1 seems the consensus. Yes it is so much more power than the color, the genius and passion of Ansel Adams. Pieter, please stay tuned, have much, much more. hope some may ring a bell. Neil, thanks always enjoy and learn from your concise, informed remarks. Utah Vacation was perfect! Addy I was fiddling around w todays era processing as opposed to 2007 versions and was amazed at the quality of the photos this camera was capable of if one was able to drawn out its true performance. I found w slight tweaking I could get more of the full potential of this Minolta 6 meg sensor aps-c camera I did a few pics below and see what you guys think I'm probably going to have to restart. I want to reach as close as I can to the cameras capabilities, plus I found a trove of more pics I'm going to have to do. Here are a few I have slightly re-edited in todays standards I like them ![]() Tioga Pass by Coast, on Flickr ![]() Mono Lake by Coast, on Flickr ![]() Yosemite by Coast, on Flickr ![]() Yosemite power by Coast, on Flickr |

Sorry but I hit sort of a speed bump
The photos I've posted and want to post are all edited w Apples 1st version of Photos which was rather inadequate. Since, there have been significant upgrades to it but is still quite rudimentary. I don't like over edited images to where they are almost unrecognizable of the original. Which seems to be the direction programs are rushing head long, including mine. I'm in the keep it pristine category as much as possible. (but I do like to have fun editing sometimes). So I want to bring out the quality of the camera as much as possible, but still keep it simple and re-edit w only the latest version of Photos, slightly. The speed bump I've hit, is a few of the pics (they are so long ago) I can't find in my Photos app and for right now are only in my flickr's app and can't re-edit w Photos. Hope I can find those images sometime. |

I've been to Yosemite only once and it was a bright sunny day with plenty of haze. I barely came back with any pics that made me happy.
I'm glad to see your pics, Joe. Keep 'em coming! TFS Sashi |
