| comment: | This lens is found under the Neewer and Mcoplus brands. 7Artisans also has a $145 lens with the same specifications but a significantly different body style. The initial price of the Neewer was $119.99, but it now available for much less. It came packaged in a plain white box with a Neewer sticker on the front unlike the thicker printed boxes used by previous Neewer/Meike lenses. A customer support pamphlet and a small instruction sheet were included in the box along with a small plain black vinyl storage bag. "MADE IN CHINA" This lens looks very similar to the smaller/cheaper Neewer 32 F1.6 which is also found under the Mcoplus and Veledge brands. It looks different than the older Neewer/Meike/Kaxinda lenses or the Neewer 25 F1.8. Like the later it has a 12 bladed aperture while the older Neewer/Meike/Kaxinda lenses use 9 bladed apertures. Plain black plastic front and rear caps were included. Like the 32 F1.6 there are three tabs on the front of the focusing barrel that seem to be for an optional bayonet hood. I haven't found the hood that fits these. The filter threads and hood bayonet do not rotate but do extended with focus. The scale markings are inaccurate much like the 25mm F1.8 lens. The F2 setting is barely any darker than wide-open, and F2.8 seems closer to F2. 7Artisans lenses tend to have more accurate scales. For flat field subjects this doesn't compete with the Rokinon 35 F1.2 or even the Fotasy 35 F1.6, but it is compact and plenty sharp wide-open on centered subjects. It is like a brighter Kaxinda/Meike/Neewer 35 F1.7. The corners are much better than the mini Fotasy 35mm F1.6 C-mount prime. |
