ownership:I own this lens
compared to:No other lens
price paid:550 USD (new)
positive:I agree that this lens produces excellent results.
negative:The AF may be slow, but I think that that has more to do with driving the sheer mass of the lens than anything else.
comment:I bought this lens brand new when it was still being produced. I had to specifically order it through a camera dealer I once dealt with. I have probably only used it about four times during the last ten years (for indoor portrait work lasting probably no more than two hours time), so it is still in mint condition. (Most of my camera equipment I pamper terribly.) I even still have all the original documentation and packaging placed in storage. Right now I keep it carefully tucked away in the best camera bag I have that I also keep my Maxxum 7 in. After reading about how these lenses are now so sought after, I may have to dig out the original box, and keep the lens stashed away in a drawer somewhere with a desicant carefully placed with it.
