ownership:I own this lens
compared to:50mm f/2.8 macro (non RS, old version). Price :)
price paid:USD 549.95 (new)
positive:Focus limit switch, focus lock clutch, large manual focus ring which doesn't rotate during AF. Sharp, clear images, non rotating front element, circular aperture
negative:Plastic body unlike its predecessors. Focus limit switch could be improved.
comment:This lens is perfect for macro and good as a standard 100mm as well. I don't mind paying more for quality glass of this caliber.

As expected, images are flatter compared to the 50mm f/2.8 macro and working distance is different. You also need a tripod when getting really close due to the 1.5x FOV crop translating it to a 150mm macro.

Seems that Sony is about to discontinue this lens (sad face)
