positive: | Fast focus, jaw-dropping sharpness and a go to portrait lens. I have most of the Minolta line up and is the most appealing of portrait lens couple with the focus limiter. |
negative: | occasional focus hunt. |
comment: | There is probably 10 obligatory, must have Minolta lenses, I can promise you this one of them. A lens that just keeps surprising, it is on my A99 surprisingly often. Sharp to the point of apologetic, at f2.8 still very sharp and at the other end of the aperture scale the sharpness is a small reprieve from almost too sharp. The color is typical Minolta with an almost 3d feel. Light enough to almost live on the A99. The "Bokeh" as with most of Minolta better quality lenses, delivers in spades, powder puff soft background renditions a joy to stop down to. Now the best part, it's ability to be a sensational Macro lens. The 1:1 aspect always delivers |
