ownership:I own this lens
compared to:- Minolta 50mm f2.8 MACRO (also a great lens btw.)
price paid:€ 120
positive:- sharp
- great contrast
- good minimum focal disctance
- also usable as a shorter telephoto lens
- an incredible bargain on the used market
negative:---
comment:Great sharpness, even at 2.8. Icredibly detailed macro shots can be made with this lens. The kind of macros that make your jaw drop when you see the details in e.g. an insects compound eyes. This lens can also be used as a nice and crisp portrait lens or even as a shorter focal length wildlife lens. Colours and contrast are incredible, considering this lens is 20 years old. Chromatic aberrations are barely existent and only slightly appear when you shoot something like tree branches against a bright sky.
