ownership:I own this lens
compared to:Minolta 80-200/2.8 Apo [O]
Tamron 70-210/2.8 LD
price paid:
Well built
negative:No tripod mount
Look a ponce with a white lens
Stupid sticker on the hood
comment:I can only really echo the comments of others. I always wondered if a lens could be that much better, it warranted such a high price. Well, I bought it anyway and the answer is: yes.

Sharp wide open, none of the soft ghostly halo effect present in the zooms. Chromatic Aberrations are hardly evident. General superb all-round performance.

Personally I find the focus limiter too slow to disable. 3 seconds is too long sometimes, I'd rather a switch to flick.
I'd also rather it wasn't white, but never mind eh?
