ownership:I own this lens
compared to:Rokinon 14mm f/2.8
price paid:NZ$350 used
positive:Nice and wide, super sharp in the centre and corners are OK on my A99 even at f/2.8 but perfect across the frame once stopped down to f/5.6 or f/8. Lovely colours. Focuses accurately on A99. On A57 its similar story, apart from crop factor. Infinity at the stop. Built to last.
negative:Some vignetting wide open, the lens hood is a bit tricky to remove or fit sometimes, wide open there is a bit of astigmatism and coma shooting milky way.
comment:A really nice wide angle lens, performs very well on my A99, great sharpness corner to corner at f/8, corners are softer at f/2.8 but still acceptable, but from f/4 to f/8 corners are great. Lovely Minolta colours. Solidly built and compact. To get infinity focus at night and during the day I just flip the A99 into manual and turn the focus ring to the stop - perfect!
