comment:This is a great walkaround lens. It's compact and light. It's a great match to the 7D and balances nicely in my hands. The zoom ring is nice and tight - no zoom creep. The focus ring is wide enough to manually focus without difficulty.

This lens is really sharp for a zoom lens (especially when compared with the 28-80D kit lens that came with my Maxxum 5) and the colours and contrast are also great. I have never had any problems with flare with this lens.

The reach is not as long as the Tamron 24-135 but I find the qualities between the two lenses are quite similar. The Tamron is a great lens too, but it doesn't have D capability which I find useful in the 24-105 range.

There is some distortion at the wide end but that's to be expected with wider lenses.

All in all, a superb day-to-day lens.
