positive: | - size and weight - colours - sharpness - decent range - decent AF (internal focus) |
negative: | - CA in some conditions - zoom creep - a little 'tolerance' in the focus ring - zoom bokeh |
comment: | A really nice all-rounder with few compromises. What I look for in a lens is the ability to use it without having to think too hard about its limitations. This lens can be used at full aperture at all focal lengths without sacrificing much in the way of sharpness. Colours are actually wonderful, and I have had no problems with flare. Compromises are bokeh and CA af full apertures (colour rating of 3 because of CA). The focus ring also has a little 'play' or 'tolerance' that can make MF just a little difficult (but I am a stickler for build quality...this lens sits next to my Takumar collection!). It's also a great deal at current prices. |
