ownership:I have experience with this lens
compared to:Tokina 28-70, 2.6-2.8, Atx Pro
Canon 24 - 105L
price paid:L150.00 (new)
positive:Well built within its price range. Sharp with good contrast and colour
negative:None really considering its cost.
comment:I find the Minolta 24-85 performs beter than my Tokina 28-70, 2.6-2.8, ATX Pro, and this is borne out by MTF figures on Photodo. The 24-85mm was the last Minolta lens I bought, about half its original price from a dealer in Tottenham Court Road, London, who had a load of them (in 2002) Update: Not bad on the Sony A7R at the wide end, not so good at the long.

Update: now used as a nice walk around lens on my a900 and still pleased with its overall performance. Very sharp and good colour. The extending lens barrel has developed some scuffs, which spoils its cosmetic looks, but it delivers the goods. I wish Sony/Zeiss would develop some smaller aperture full frame lenses (and therefore cheaper and less bulky) in the wide and standard zoom area.
