ownership:I own this lens
compared to:SAL 35f1.8
SAL 55-200
SAL 18-55
Minolta 50F1.7
price paid:150 USD (used)
positive:range
negative:too soft wide open
flare
questionable color
comment:Not very sharp wide open especially the corners, I think SAL1855 is sharper wide open at 24, but at f5.6 and beyond this lens is better. Wide open, no where near the sharpness of 55-200 and 35f1.8. It is sharp at f8 but still not as sharp as 55-200 or 35f1.8 or 50F1.7. Color is not as good as 50F.17 (at least for portraits).
